Compound Attributes

n.

Pronunciation

/ˈkɑmpaʊnd ˈætrəˌbjuts/

Definition

A attribute that captures multiple concepts in its values.

Compound attributes can be beneficial in some cases, for instance when the two concepts are closely related or commonly displayed together as an industry standard. Other times it is useful to break out the values in a compound attribute into separate attributes to make them more valuable when used as navigational facets.
