Definition

The organization of asset metadata into the different types of information they hold.

Different pieces of metadata hold information about what the data may look like, who may access it, or when it will be displayed. These different functions of the metadata can be grouped together and labeled as a metadata schema. Different users may be responsible for maintaining induvial parts of the metadata schema.
