Metadata Value

n.

Pronunciation

/ˈmɛt.əˌdeɪ.tə ˈvælju/

Acronym

Definition

That individual data points that exist in schema metadata fields.

Metadata Values can be entries like {Jane Doe} in an <Author> field or {2018-11-29} in a <Date Modified> field. Metadata Values are not usually seen by the customer or used by them to navigate the hierarchy. The data found within these values is helpful internally for analysts to track, interpret, and analyze the data as it is being onboarded and governed.
