N/A Values
Not Applicable Values
n.
Pronunciation
/ɛn/ə ˈvæljuz/
Acronym
Definition
A value indicating the attribute is not valid for this kind of item.
Non applicable values do not apply to the attribute. For example, if the product has no battery included, then the attribute <Battery Capacity> would have a “N/A” value. N/A values are important to distinguish from related concepts such as null and negative values. In the above example, a negative value such as “No” and “None” would indicate that the battery is not included. A null or blank value should indicate that the attribute has not been filled or is unknown. Filling in the wrong value can lead to inaccurate fill rate reports and misleading information.
