PIM Owner

n.

Pronunciation

/pi-aɪ-ɛm ˈoʊnər/

Definition

The person who bears responsibility for the Product Information Management process from a management standpoint.

This position is different from a Data Steward who manages conditions within the PIM system. The PIM Owner would interface between the PIM's internal logic and the rest of the company, enforcing the idea that the system is Master Data, managing how the content is supplied to the system, looking at the long term roadmap for the PIM system, and addressing or escalating any issues brought up by the Data Steward which cannot be solved within the system. Because of the practical nature of these responsibilities, they are best handled by a person in higher management.
