A product hierarchy that has product categories that exist under multiple parents, i.e. cross-listed.

Not all Product Information Management systems can support cross-listing of nodes. In PIM systems which do support cross-listing, one parent category is assigned as the Primary Parent to avoid double-counting the items in analytics and reports. PIM systems supporting Polyhierarchies visually differentiate between the Primary and Secondary Parents while still providing a map of the alternate pathways within the hierarchy tree.
