Primary Home
n.
Pronunciation
/ˈpraɪˌmɛri hoʊm/
Acronym
Definition
Description of the main, favored category for a product or category that is assigned to multiple locations.
The Primary Home of an item is the preferred location of a product in a hierarchy that allows for the classification of items in multiple locations. Multi-classed items should have a primary home detailed at least on the back end. Cross-listing items and leveraging sub- and super classes are preferred to multi-classification systems as multi-classed items can lead to general confusion and issues in reporting.
