Required Attribute

n.

Pronunciation

/riˈkwaɪərd ˈætrəˌbjut/

Definition

Attributes that need to have a non-null value populated for every record in an entity.

Required Attributes create higher fill rates but at the risk of creating bottlenecks if the data is not available. Bottlenecks could incentivize inaccurate guessed values during the data entry process. In addition, overusing the value "N/A" or "Not Applicable" may artificially inflate fill rate and disguise an issue with the schema or categorization.
