Definition

A staging area of data entities where tests of processes and builds can be run before they are made available to all users and effect live data.

A Sandbox is crucial in the development and testing of a PIM implementation. Sandboxes can be used for Proof of Concepts within a project so that all the effects of a decision can be observed before making the changes to the hierarchy.
