Scoping Phase

n.

Pronunciation

/ˈskoʊpɪŋ feɪz/

Acronym

Definition

The beginning stage of creating a PIM system where the big picture strategy is determined.

During the Scoping phase, a roadmap for each sub project will be created with a timeline set. In this stage, the focuses and the final goals of the system should be clarified so that the underlying architecture supports the desired end product functionality. Identifying which parts of the business will come in contact with the system and how, who will be working on the project, and any risks of the project are important steps to establishing parameters in this phase. This phase is followed by the Elaboration Phase.
