Supplier Management

n.

Pronunciation

/səˈplaɪər ˈmænəʤmənt/

Acronym

Definition

The processes of organizing and tracking data connected to the suppliers who provide goods and services to the business.

Supplier Management processes are common in PIM systems, where they can be as simple as storing important contact information and relevant company details about the suppliers, along with how the business compares to other suppliers and logs of past dealings. More complex processes include integrating and onboarding the supplier into the PIM system so that data can be transferred between and understood by both parties. Other management processes include handling supplier metadata and managing supplier preference in marketing certain goods.
