The process of maintaining consistent data between two or more data systems.

Synchronization occurs when a business’s product information system data is matched with the data’s source. For instance, a business holds products from a supplier in its PIM system; the supplier may update information on certain products, which should then be reflected in the business’s PIM. The act of synchronizing data between businesses and suppliers may be automatic and updated via feeds or it can be also be a manual process.
