Attribute Consistency

a.

Pronunciation

/ˈætrəˌbjut kənˈsɪstənsi/

Acronym

Definition

The characteristic represented by an attribute should be the same for all products using that attribute.

Within a product category, attribute consistency is important to maintain so that users can understand what concept attribute is representing. The exception to this is dimensional attributes which may measure different parts of different shaped products within the same category. Between categories, maintaining consistency is also important but not as critical. Attributes should be defined so that users can understand the characteristics displayed.
