Attribute Value
n.
Pronunciation
/ˈætrəˌbjut ˈvælju/
Acronym
Definition
One particular data characteristic that defines an attribute for a particular item.
An attribute value is the most granular way to examine product data. The differences in attribute values between items classified to the same category distinguish one product from another. For example, items classified to a category [T-shirts] will capture different values for the attributes <Size>, <Color>, and <Material>, thereby defining each individual product based on these characteristics. In general, attributes will capture only one value, unless specified otherwise by the metadata, and a product will be entirely characterized by its unique identifier and its attribute values within an information system.
