Business User

n.

Pronunciation

/ˈbɪznəs ˈjuzər /

Acronym

Definition

An employee of the company who will be working with a Product Information Management (PIM) system but who is not familiar with its technical aspects.

A Business User usually does not code or program but must leverage the User Interface to perform tasks related to the data. These might be business analytics or financial tasks. Ideally, the PIM system would be intuitive or the Business User would be trained so that the task is accurate and the process straightforward. For that reason, it is a good policy to design PIM systems with the Application Managers, Department Managers, Risk Managers and other Business Users in mind.
