Navigation Sequence
n.
Pronunciation
/ˈnævəˈgeɪʃən ˈsikwəns/
Acronym
Definition
A piece of metadata which dictates the order in which navigation attributes are displayed.
Navigation sequence is only applicable for navigation attributes. If no navigation sequence exists, then attributes are displayed alphabetically. All navigation attributes are required to have a sequence, and no two ranks may be the same. Depending on the site's design, attributes of a specific rank and lower may appear below the fold directing the user at the bottom of the page. This separation may be important to keep in mind when sequencing attributes within a category. The rank of the navigation attributes is often based on which are searched the most by website visitors.
