Precedence Rule

n.

Pronunciation

/ˈprɛsədəns rul/

Acronym

Definition

A rule that allow navigation facet values to be displayed after a trigger has occurred.

Precedence rules are useful to avoid overloading the user with too many navigation options at once. For instance, a precedence rule may be set up to only show a “City” dimension after a “County” dimension value is selected. Precedence rules limit the amount of dimensions and dimension values visible to the user at once.
