A category or class living within a terminal node.

Subclasses are typically derived by leveraging attribute values at the terminal node level. Rather than building further child categories, attributes can be used to define a subclass. For instance, there may be a reason not to build further nodes for dairy alternatives under a [Milk] category; values for <Milk Source>, like {Almond} and {Soy}, can be referred to as a subclass in reporting or front end eCommerce navigation.
